Support the day-to-day functions of the Payroll department as a Payroll Clerk at a growing company Accountemps has partnered with in the Nashville, Tennessee region. This advanced position is best suited for a self-starter looking to further their career and work with an industry leader. The company is a dynamic, fast-growing team, looking for someone who can communicate effectively with both the internal team and outside customers. The Payroll Clerk will tackle challenges in data entry, reconciliation of timecards, paycheck distribution and providing statements to various departments. The Payroll Clerk position is looking to be filled on a short term temporary-to-fulltime employment contract. What you get to do every single day

  • Gather data into spreadsheets and the payroll system

  • Carry out clerical duties such as filing, scanning, faxing, photocopying, etc

  • Construct and run custom reports

  • Distribute and administer reports as instructed

  • Supply the organization with instructions/training regarding the use of payroll-related systems including entry of timesheets, online access of pay statements, etc.

  • Communicate with organization employees via a variety of channels to obtain approvals of timesheets

  • Data entry into spreadsheets and the payroll system


  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills

  • Strong familiarity with Microsoft Outlook

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Word

  • ADP Workforce Now experience

  • Command of Microsoft Excel

  • NetSuite experience

  • Previous payroll experience

  • Enthusiasm when it comes to learning new systems and ideas

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Proficient in Payroll software

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

This role ensures timely disposition of mail, scanning of confidential documents, ensuring those documents are sourced to the correct person/team/department, tracking of garnishment documentation, filing and purging of records and timely completion of wage versification. Responsibilities: * Ensures mail is opened daily, stamped with the date received and dispersed to the proper team member as appropriate. * Scans garnishment orders, loads the information into the third party vendor's Garnishment Tool and uploads an electronic copy of the notification to the third party vendor. * Work People Connection tickets to add missing timestamps or PTO to team members' time cards. * Monitor Chatter for payroll-related posts and ensures Payroll leadership is aware of posts so that responses can be handled quickly and accurately. * Logs over payment receipts, codes the receipt and delivers to AR team for deposit. Confirms to employee via email or call that payment has been received; logs a ticket with the People Connection detailing receipt of payment. * Scanning and emailing of Wage Verification's, Unemployment notices. Filing and purging of Payroll records and historical documents. * Other tasks as assigned. Education/Training – * High school degree required. Experience – * 2+ years experience in payroll environment * Workday and Kronos payroll experience preferred Specialized Knowledge/Skills – * Experience in multi-country, multi-state payroll environment required. * Working knowledge of US and Canadian payroll compliance rules and regulations a plus. * Excellent organization and planning skills with ability to work well under pressure and in an environment of change. * Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive customer and internal information. * Ability to utilize Microsoft Office suite, including some knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Working Conditions: Environment (Office, warehouse, etc.) – * Indoors, heated/air conditioned office. Typical office environment. Subject to frequent noise volume in a shared office environment with other individuals and office equipment including the background noise of telephones, photocopy machine and computer printers. Subject to video display (VDT) exposure. Work is performed in an office environment. Involves frequent contact with staff. Physical Requirements (Lifting, standing, etc.) – * Work Postures: Position is essentially sedentary; incumbent spends approximately 90% of the time in a sitting position and 10% of the time walking and standing. Utilizes manual dexterity to type and use computer, telephone and other office equipment. * Lifting/Carrying: Occasional lifting/carrying of boxes and supplies up to 20 pounds. * Equipment: Frequently, approximately 80% of the time, uses a computer, copy machine, and fax machine. * Visual Acuity: Proofreads written information. Reads information on computer screens. Works with printed copy as well as with detail displayed on computer screens. * Hearing: Position entails a significant amount of talking and listening including regular phone contact, incoming and outgoing. * Work Hours: Primarily 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week. * Travel: Willingness and ability to travel between regional office locations up to 5% of time.
