  • Contact employees via email and phone to obtain timesheet approvals

  • Compile a system of administering and distributing reports

  • Enter data into spreadsheets and the payroll system

  • Data entry into spreadsheets and the payroll system

  • Configure custom reports

  • Administer instruction/training to employees regarding the use of payroll-related systems including entry of timesheets, online access of pay statements, etc.

  • Conduct clerical duties such as filing, scanning, faxing, photocopying, etc

Requirements

  • Highly organized, attentive, has a sense of urgency, flexible and able to deal with frequent interruptions and changing priorities

  • Previous payroll experience

  • Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement

  • Prior Payroll software experience preferred

  • Expertise in payroll for over 500 employees

  • Manual payroll experience

  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Excel

  • Eagerness to master new systems

  • Excellent written, verbal and social communication skills

Summary: The primary responsibility of the Payroll Specialist is to ensure a timely and accurate payroll in the Kronos time capture system for all Cadman hourly employees in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreements, State and Federal statutory requirements, and Lehigh Hanson internal controls and procedures, and process all prevailing wage and certified payrolls, as well as working with customers to provide them with intents and affidavits in a timely manner. Responsibilities: * Make sure weekly payroll is accurate in the Kronos system and ready for processing every Monday morning. * Create weekly Certified Payrolls for customers, on demand and for ongoing jobs * Submit Intents and Affidavits online to L&I for Prevailing Wage jobs * Maintain Prevailing Wage files and understand when it applies to drivers for reporting and wages * Maintain all hourly employee master file data and tables in the payroll system (i.e. position codes, deductions, rates, taxes, GL coding, etc.) * Respond to customer inquiries regarding Prevailing wage jobs, answer questions regarding work and hours, fill out required documentation and submit to interested parties * Ensure pay rates and other payroll elements are maintained in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreements * Ensure daily time cards are accurate and approved * Data entry of employee time data into the payroll system and balance of the payroll system daily time card batches * Maintain in depth knowledge of the work rules and provisions set forth in collective bargaining agreements and employment laws governing represented and non-represented employees. Skills and Qualifications: * Two years payroll experience to include the use of Kronos time capture system, and unionized hourly payroll within the State of Washington. * Organized, time management skills, good communication skills, etc. * Sound spreadsheet, computer system and report writing skills. * Knowledge of Federal and Washington employment legislation and labor laws. * Accounting and benefits administration experience. * CPP designation a definite asset.
