In this role, your primary responsibilities will consist of providing support to the Payroll department in a variety of duties, including data entry, reconciliation of timecards, paycheck distribution and providing statements to various departments. You should have the ability to communicate effectively with both the internal team and outside customers. A Payroll Clerk position has become available on a long term temporary basis in the Memphis, Tennessee area. What you get to do every single day

  • Data entry into spreadsheets and the payroll system

  • Reach out to employees via phone and email to obtain timesheet approvals

  • Construct and run custom reports

  • Administer instruction/training to employees regarding the use of payroll-related systems including entry of timesheets, online access of pay statements, etc.

  • Perform basic clerical duties such as filing, scanning, faxing, photocopying, etc

  • Distribute and administer reports as instructed

  • Make sure data entered into spreadsheets and the payroll system is accurate


  • Knowledge of payroll for over 500 employees

  • Strong familiarity with ADP Financial Services

  • HR (Human Resources) experience desired

  • Attentive, ability to work independently and prioritize tasks

  • Skilled in Payroll software

  • Possess strong organizational and follow-up skills

  • 1+ years of previous payroll experience

  • Eagerness to master new systems

  • Ability to enter data into various electronic systems while maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the data

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities * Establish and manage controls for payroll processes; partnering with Accounting/Finance departments for all Payroll related matters. * Manage payroll for employees through a third party vendor, as well as ensuring payroll and tax transactions are processed timely and accurately. * Manage and ensure compliance with internal policies and controls, as well as state, local, and federal laws and regulatory guidance. * Routinely prepare, update, and recommend HR policy and procedures. * Maintain current knowledge of applicable state and federal wage and hour laws, as well as staying current on payroll systems and other related areas and to ensure effective accounting support. * Partner with stakeholders to define HR technology needs and implement solutions aligned with company strategies to improve and enhance technology and business processes. * Seek continual improvement opportunities to automate solutions. * Direct the HRIS platform utilization and optimization. * Work with current vendor for design, development, testing, implementation security, and maintenance of all HR Information Systems (HRIS) to meet company requirements. * Ensure HR systems alignment with other internal technologies support by key partners in Finance and Information Technology. * Evaluate current processes to identify areas for improvement through process improvement and technical solutions. * Provide seasoned HR Operations expertise and guidance to other HR leaders who utilize HRIS platforms to ensure efficient process execution, needed process changes, seamless data flow, and overall system integrity. * Own the data quality and on-going improvements to data to deliver accurate and reliable workforce data with corresponding reporting and analytics. * Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports for management or other required entities. Requirements * Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Finance, Business Administration, Accosting, or related field * 8+ years' experience in progressive HR leadership * Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is preferred * Strong understanding of HRIS database design, structure, functions, processes, and database tools. * In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local labor and employment laws * Strong knowledge of Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) * Project management skills, including cross-functional teams * Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of staff, including executive management * Solid critical thinking and problem solving skills, as well as project and process management skills * Strong analytical, mathematical, and computation skills * Solid problem solving, decision making, and conflict resolution skills Ability to demonstrate a strong strategic focus, translating business objectives into goals and objectives Frontdoor, Inc.
