Position: Payroll Associate
Location: New York, NY/Remote
FLSA Status: Exempt
Salary: NYC's minimum salary for this position is $59,700. This may be adjusted to reflect the cost of labor of a candidate's work location, if outside of NYC.
Reporting to the Controller and working in close coordination with the Sr. Director, People, and Culture the Payroll Associate will serve as the primary liaison with the organization's third-party payroll administrator. Duties will also include updating payroll records, uploading payroll information to the organization's general ledger system, and addressing employee inquiries.
Serve as primary liaison with the organization's third-party payroll administrator
Check payroll information for accuracy and ensure all relevant paperwork is in order
Coordinate changes in payroll (e.g., terminations, new hires)
Update data with salary or wage adjustments
Update financial compensation changes or deductions (e.g., annual bonuses, severance pay, taxes, worker's compensation, garnishments)
Assist with processing benefit expenses (e.g., transmittal of 403(b) funds to trustee)
Upload payroll information to the organization's general ledger system
Answer employee questions relating to payroll (in coordination with third-party administrator)
Produce reports upon request, including ACA reporting.
Assist with gathering information for audits (e.g., Financial Audit and Defined Contribution Plan Audit)
Assist with requests from other agencies (e.g., IRS, DOL)
Manage timecard approvals with UUSA supervisors.
Other duties as assigned by the Controller, including overall support to the Finance team as required.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field required
Minimum of three years of related experience, preferably with payroll or a similar role
Familiarity with payroll processes
Good knowledge of legislation relevant to accounting and payroll is strongly preferred
Working knowledge of ADP payroll systems required, with NetSuite experience is a plus.
Comfortable with Excel (functions, data, etc.)
An analytical mind with good math skills
Strong communication skills
Excellent attention to detail
Must possess current and valid US Work Authorization and be eligible to work for any US employer without sponsorship.
