The Payroll Analyst must be dedicated and industrious, committed to accuracy in all transactions. The successful candidate will work as part of a team, to manage all payroll preparation. Complete all aspects of post payroll activities including preparing journal entries for submission to Finance reporting to support account reconciliation and tax filing), processing and distribution duties and will provide assistance to both internal and external customers when necessary.
Bi-weekly disbursement of multi-state payroll, including garnishments, benefits and taxes to 4000 employees consistent with federal and state wage and hour laws
Responsible for the timing submission of the general ledger files
Supplementary reports to support the finance function in the reconciliation of the balance sheet accounts
Verifies payroll tax filing for all legal entities
Communicate with controllers to assist in reconciliation, general ledger or journal entry enquiries
Accurate and timely manner in which payroll related actions and reports are prepared and processed
Timely response to employee enquiries focusing on a high level of customer service
The ability to communicate, facilitate and engage proactively with team members, staff managers, and department managers as needed
The ability to develop, maintain and communicate current accurate payroll records, procedures, and policies
Ensure the processing of new hires, transfers, promotions and terminations is accurate, compliant, and timely
Recommend and implement changes leading to best practice operations
Preparation of W2s, payroll balance sheets, YTD earnings, etc.
Communicate effectively with customers and other functions
Communicate with team members and employees in support of check reversals
Ensure correct system maintenance including employee master data, wages, benefits, PTO in line with contracts (union and non-union).
Management reporting, including monthly results, quarterly and year-end reports (i.e. gross payroll, PTO accrual, tax deductions, benefit deductions, etc.)
Administer compliance with statutory reporting and filing requirements
Maintains payroll documentation
High School Diploma
5-7 years of experience processing multi-state payroll function
3 years of experience of payroll tax at the federal, state and local levels
Excellent quantitative and analytical skills necessary
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related
APA qualified and/or Certified Payroll Professional designation desirable
Knowledge and experience of ADP Payforce, SAP, Workday, Kronos and E-Time
In-depth knowledge and experience of payroll calculation and processing
Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel)
Process improvement initiative training/experience preferred
