Pan-American Life Insurance Group (PALIG) is seeking an experienced Payroll Analyst who will be responsible for ensuring accurate processing and recording of company payrolls, providing timely and accurate financial information, and ensuring company compliance with all mandated payroll taxes, rules, regulations, and programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

PAYROLL PROCESSING:

  • Coordinate and execute timely bi-weekly payroll processing cycles.

  • Calculate wages, deductions, commissions, bonuses, and any other payroll elements, if needed.

  • Review and validate payroll data for accuracy and completeness.

  • Ensure compliance with payroll policies and procedures.

COMPLIANCE:

  • Ensure payroll-related compliance with 30+ states where employees reside.

  • Ensure payroll processes comply with legal requirements and internal policies.

  • Manage Ceridian vendor relationship, monitoring and addressing all fallout reports.

  • Work in partnership with Ceridian and internal Tax Dept to ensure payroll taxes are prepared and filed, including quarterly and annual filings.

REPORTING & ANALYSIS:

  • Generate payroll reports for management and other departments as needed.

  • Analyze payroll data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Prepare ad-hoc reports and analyses related to payroll and labor costs.

  • M&A Activity: perform analysis and provide recommendation for smooth transition and successful M&A.

CUSTOMER SERVICE:

  • Respond timely to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues or concerns.

  • Assist employees with understanding their pay statements.

  • Conduct new hire orientation to train new hires on payroll-related items in Workday.

SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT:

  • Utilize payroll software systems to process payroll efficiently.

  • Recommend system enhancements or modifications to improve payroll processes.

  • Participate in testing and implementations of payroll system upgrades.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 4 to 7 years of experience in Human Resources or related experience with direct exposure to payroll administration; experience with processing payroll across different states, highly preferred

  • Experience with HRIS & payroll systems / modules, preferably, in Workday.

What Would Make You Stand Out

  • Experience with Ceridian tax filing services

  • Knowledge of multi-state payroll and tax regulations

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation or similar certification
