The Payroll Analyst will work under the Payroll Operations Manager, partnering to ensure accurate processing and recording of the company payroll. This role will assist in calculating payroll checks for salaried, hourly and commissioned employees (including all deductions for taxes, insurance, and benefits), while maintaining a focus on exceptions resolution and delivering superior customer service. In addition to baseline payroll processing support, this position will be critical to enabling our continuous improvement agenda. The ideal candidate will identify opportunities to optimize our Payroll infrastructure (from systems to processes and procedures), quantify the impact of operational pain points to influence change, leverage relationships within our stakeholder network to secure buy-in (when appropriate), and spearhead internal transformation efforts within the Payroll function.
Process multi state payroll for a diverse employee population, including all deductions for taxes, benefits etc., according to payroll schedules; process off-cycle payrolls, as required
Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforce adherence to requirements; advise management on needed actions
Leverage systems (onboarding, time-keeping, etc.) to proactively address process gaps and/or manual keying errors adversely affecting payroll processing
Perform various system audits and reporting reviews to ensure accurate payroll processing
Perform real-time root cause analysis on each issue in order to identify gaps in existing solutions and assist in developing and implementing new preventive solutions.
Find opportunities to reduce volumes, improve accuracy and deliver efficiencies through automation of manual work, elimination of unnecessary or redundant processes, etc.
Review, implement and maintain appropriate internal controls, ensuring strict and consistent compliance and adapt high-level user requirements into functional processes to create and distribute payroll reports as needed
Partner with fellow Krispy Kremers from Human Resources/Company Operations/Support Center on various projects and initiatives as needed
Perform other duties/Special Projects as assigned
Pull and distribute management reporting (including team/functional KPIs) on a routine basis; provide ad hoc analysis, as needed, to support baseline business needs
Create, maintain and update relevant Payroll documentation for recurring processes and procedures
Bachelor's degree in a Finance related field preferred
2-3 years of payroll experience required; 5-7 years and/or CPP designation preferred
Ultimate Software (UltiPro) and Kronos experience preferred
Strong knowledge of standard payroll concepts, practices, procedures and tax laws
Must possess exceptional organizational, time management, and customer service skills
Critical thinking, attention to detail and multi-tasking skills required
