Under the direction of the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Analyst is responsible for the administration of the day to day payroll operations and accuracy of the payroll system to deliver of the company's semi-monthly and bi-weekly payrolls. The Payroll Analyst will be part of the nationwide payroll team, be a resource to employees and perform related duties as required.

You will:

  • Audit data integrity between Workday HRIS and ADP Payroll to ensure both systems are in sync on a quarterly and annual basis
  • Audit payrolls bi-weekly and semi monthly cycles before payrolls are released for processing
  • Partner with payroll analysts on the payroll team in processing domestic payrolls
  • Partner with Internal and External Business Partners to test new functional system enhancements, system updates and integrations
  • Lead year-end to ensure a smooth year-end to provide accurate W2's
  • Collaborate with multiple business teams within the organization like HR, Equity and Business Systems
  • Identify and participate in process improvement projects, including various implementation and upgrades
  • Monitor email inquiries from the payroll@ inbox and respond to employees as necessary
  • Participate in payroll projects and opportunities as assigned
  • Process garnishments, unemployment wage claims and other tax tracers as needed
  • Work closely with the other Payroll Analysts to provide excellent customer service and be back up for payroll process as necessary
  • Work closely with internal staff and vendors to ensure HR, Benefit and Payroll changes are processed, accurate funding occurs for all accounts, tax remittance, general ledger balancing , month-end close and Management Reporting is completed in a timely manner
  • Assist Global Payroll Manager with annual audits such as 401k and Worker's Comp
  • Work with the Team to provide guidance in payroll processes and provide feedback to improve payroll processes
  • Complete accounting journal entries for month-end close

Must have:

  • Proficient in MS Excel including advanced formulas functions (Vlookups, Pivot tables, IF statements)
  • 5+ years of payroll experience and knowledgeable of wage and hourly laws

VIEW JOBS 10/6/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-01-04T00:00 Responsibilities Based in downtown Los Angeles, the Analyst will process payroll for Oaktree's U.S. offices through Workday Payroll. Responsibilities include: * Collecting, inputting, importing, and auditing pay data into Workday Payroll; * Running pay calculations and settlements for semi-monthly U.S. payroll, as well as for off cycle equity, separation payments, special payments, and adjustments; * Reconciling periodic, quarterly, and annual tax reports with ADP; * Assisting with time-off request inquiries, approvals, and troubleshooting; * Processing historical edits and adjusting accrual balances; * Reviewing and processing semi-monthly timecards; * Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws; * Reviewing and updating the compensation and payroll narrative that outlines key SOX controls, completing the written review of the annual payroll SOC 1 reports, responding to payroll audit requests, preparing sample documentation for walkthroughs, and ensuring SOX compliance for the payroll process; * Preparing annual financial reports for Corporate Accounting and Tax related to state tax reporting, annual audit reconciliations, international office audits, bonus tax liability estimates, etc.; * Liaising with corporate relocation firm to process relocation expense reports through payroll for tax purposes; * Tracking and processing expat taxable fringe benefit gross-ups through payroll; * Working with outside tax advisors and/or local payroll providers to complete expatriates' quarterly estimates and year-end taxes due in both U.S. and assignment jurisdictions, providing periodic YTD and year-end information and W-2 compensation breakdowns, and coordinating tax equalization settlements; * Back-up for non-U.S. payroll processing; * Assisting with migration and implementation of new non-U.S. payroll vendor; * Responding to employment verification requests; * Generating reports and analysis as needed; * Writing and updating standard operating procedures; and * Providing company-wide customer service. Qualifications * Minimum two years of payroll experience within a professional firm; * Experience with Workday Payroll, Time Tracking, and Absence strongly preferred; * Accounting and tax knowledge a plus; * Proven ability to manage tasks with competing priorities and deadlines, independently determining order of priority and self-initiating other value-added tasks; and * Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word and Outlook.
