Description

Responsible for administration and processing of the biweekly, hourly, non-exempt, and driver payroll along with Semi-Monthly exempt payrolls for approximately 4000-5000 employees.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Payroll processing up to and including payroll exception data entry for new hires, terminations, transfers, labor allocations, and Time and Attendance programs (UTA & PAA)

  • Auditing of timesheet data entry for all pay groups

  • Pre- & Post Audits of payroll employee information in HRIS system

  • Calculation of worker's compensation/state disability pay offset, retro pay, etc.

  • Special payroll runs, such as bonus, etc.

  • Auditing of timesheet data entry for all pay groups. Review timecards to identify potential errors and develop / distribute reports outlining information requiring attention

  • Calculates and processes retroactive pay, earnings, driver advances, relocation pay and reimbursements, tax adjustments, severance pay, etc.

  • Responds to inquiries and complaints; analyzes and participates in resolving payroll problems

  • Labor allocation in HRIS

  • Trial & final processing for each pay group of the payroll (checks, direct deposits & HRIS reports)

  • 401K Balancing, creation & transmission of file to Wells Fargo

  • Preparation of payroll funding for processed payroll

  • Preparation of positive pay file for Wells Fargo

  • Preparation of funding requests for net pay & applicable taxes

  • Preparation & transmission of ACH

  • Preparation of manual checks as requested or required

  • Child Support/Garnishments (Employee notification, garnishment calculation, HRIS data entry and Vendor communication)

  • Wage Verification Requests (Worker's compensation claims, financial inquiries, etc.)

  • 401K Loan & Election's data import entry into & verification of pre-tax % as submitted by Wells Fargo export

  • Back up for Driver Commission program

  • Employee notification for outstanding payroll checks

  • Check replacement requests through A/P for lost payroll checks

  • Assist Manager Payroll & Payroll Accounting with various duties

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Working knowledge in HRIS Payroll Systems & Electronic Timesheet programs, preferably Ultimate Software, UTA Time and Attendance

  • Cognos reporting

  • Proficiency in Excel

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

  • CPP Certification required, or equivalent degree
  • 8+ years - In-House Payroll Processing & Payroll Tax Experience

Responsibilities of the Payroll Administrator include, but are not limited to: * Processing bi-weekly multi-state, multi-location payroll for 2000+ employees using Workday Payroll * Review and audit pay calculation results for hourly and salary employees and correct errors to ensure accuracy of earnings * Review and audit pay cycle comparison reports to validate payroll each pay cycle and process within the established timeframe * Ensure the accuracy of special pay processing such as bonuses, commissions, and retroactive pay * Coordinate and process additional payroll cycles including a small volume of monthly payroll and bi-weekly Mexico payroll * Understand how to calculate wages from gross to net * Process stop payments, reversals or adjustments of payroll * Process manual checks such as terminations and discrepancies * Review HCM/Payroll employee job changes for approval and processing * Oversee system operational issues and work with HR and Payroll team on system testing for changes * Oversee functionality and integration of Novatime software * Provide a consistently high level of customer service, review payroll information with employees to resolve payroll discrepancies promptly and accurately * Set up and maintain new state/local taxing and coordinate tax notices with third party administrator * Oversee requests related to submitting and processing garnishments * Create and modify reports in Workday for various departments and management, respond to requests from managers regarding payroll data * Conduct training on payroll topics as needed for field management and employees * Assist employees in registering or resetting access to online paystubs * Keep up to date on company policies and procedures * Assist with SOX Compliance audit requests * Work closely with Human Resources and Accounting on all payroll related issues * Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll records/confidential information * Assist the department with additional duties as needed #DXP Qualifications of the Payroll Administrator include, but are not limited to: * Proficient in Payroll processing with at least 3 years' experience * Processing payroll for 1000+ employees, including multi-state payroll * Meticulous attention to detail, self-motivated and strong organization skills * Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines with a sense of urgency and accuracy * Highly proficient computer skills and knowledge of report writing and Excel/spreadsheets * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Experience with Workday and ADP Smart Compliance is preferred Additional Information: Physical Demand: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, stand, and sit at a desk for an extended period of time.
