The Payroll Administrator opportunity will be located in Union City, California as a long term temporary role. Your responsibilities

  • Resolving payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information

  • Take charge of all questions and requests related to payroll

  • Maintaining payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data

  • Establish payroll liabilities after calculating all employee federal and state income and social security taxes and employer social security, unemployment, and worker compensation payments

  • Handle reconciliation of employee deductions and other relevant liabilities

  • Report changes where necessary after maintaining payroll operations via company policies and procedures

  • Payroll record maintenance by tracking changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers

  • Offer proper review and verification of source documents

  • Preparing reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages

  • Handle other duties as necessary

  • Execute relevant weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports to circulate amongst department heads

  • Maintaining employee confidence and protecting payroll operations by keeping information confidential

  • Ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations and guidelines

  • Supporting all internal and external audits related to payroll


  • Reliable skills in Microsoft Office with excellent Excel skills

  • Capable of managing high volume multi-state payroll, billing, licensing, AP, etc.

  • Knowledgeable of basic accounting principles and solid financial acumen

  • Relevant experience of 2+ years in payroll

  • Mastery of federal and state payroll regulations and requirements

  • Excellent analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • Previous experience using accounting software

  • Understanding of internal controls

  • General ledger experience preferred

  • ADP Workforce Now experience

  • Payroll experience

  • Excellent data entry skills

  • Certified Payroll Professional designation favored

As the Contract Carrier Administrator, you will oversee the entire process for incoming and terminated Contract Carriers. You will also work closely with field managers to give assistance and advice for all contract-related matters. This role is critical in positioning XPO for long-term success. Pay, benefits and more. What you'll do on a typical day: * Pre-screen potential contract carriers for contract eligibility based on contract agreements, DOT standards, and company policies * Manage incoming applicants through the pre-contract background check process and DOT compliance screening * Guide online contracting process using proprietary contracting system * Assist Operations Managers with the set-up of Contract Carrier business * Review contract terminations with Operations Managers to ensure compliance with contract agreement * Assist and inform Operations Managers of all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations and DOT compliance regulations What you need to succeed at XPO: At a minimum, you'll need: * High school diploma or equivalent * 2 years of contract management experience * Basic knowledge of Windows applications and Microsoft Office Suite * Ability to accurately input information into and retrieve information from the computer * Availability to work additional hours as needed, which may include evenings and weekends * Thorough knowledge of internal company software applications applicable to position and business unit It'd be great if you also have: * Associate degree in Business Administration * 3 years logistics or transportation experience * 2 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience Be part of something big.
