  • Produce reports after compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages

  • Resolve payroll discrepancies via information collection and analysis

  • Manage and review, including verify, source documents

  • Calculate employee federal and state income and social security taxes and employer social security, unemployment, and worker compensation payments to establish payroll liabilities

  • Secure confidential payroll operation information and maintain employee confidence

  • Maintain all updates of payroll records by tracking changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers

  • Execute relevant weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports to circulate amongst department heads

  • Answer questions and requests related to payroll information

  • Guarantee company compliance with federal and state regulations and guidelines

  • Perform other tasks as necessary

  • Payroll information management via collecting, calculating, and entering data

  • Manage issues related to employee deductions and other liabilities, including reconciling

  • Continue implementation of established policies and procedures to maintain payroll operations, reporting changes where necessary

  • Offer assistance with internal and external audits related to payroll

Requirements

  • Expertise with internal controls

  • Well-informed in basic accounting principles and solid financial acumen

  • Ability to enter data into various electronic systems while maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the data

  • Proven analytical skills - defining problems, collecting relevant data, drawing valid conclusions, and recommending improvement/corrective actions

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in payroll

  • Prior experience using accounting software

  • Payroll experience desired

  • Foundational knowledge in union payroll

  • Payroll management experience highly desired

  • Deep understanding of payroll for under 100 employees

  • General familiarity with garnishments payroll

  • Adeptness in payroll taxes

  • Command of payroll systems for 100-500 employees

  • Demonstrated knowledge of in-house payroll

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office with strong Excel skills

  • Knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations and requirements

  • Certified Payroll Professional designation favored

  • Prior experience working with high volume multi-state payroll, billing, licensing, AP, etc.

Busy Environment.<br /> <br /> <br /> <strong>Responsibilities:</strong> <ul> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Responsible to ensure the collection and accuracy of data necessary for payroll processing, including but not limited to status changes (from HR department); team member hours worked, paid and unpaid benefit time off (via Time and Labor system and in coordination with managers); deductions and garnishments, bonuses and other additional compensation.</li> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Reviews and approves changes to the payroll system from HR and employee self-service.
