  • Certify compliance with federal and state regulations and guidelines

  • Draft relevant year-end reports, as well as weekly, monthly, and quarterly ones, for department heads

  • Manage and review, including verify, source documents

  • Offer assistance with internal and external audits related to payroll

  • Continue employee confidence in payroll operations by keeping sensitive information confidential

  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned

  • Reconcile employee deductions and other liabilities as needed

  • Compile summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages as part of report preparation

  • Follow established policies and procedures to maintain payroll operations and report changes as necessary

  • Enter changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers as part of managing payroll records

  • Payroll information management via collecting, calculating, and entering data

  • Put together summaries of employer social security, unemployment, and worker compensation payments and employee federal and state income and social security taxes to calculate all payroll liabilities

  • Providing payroll information by answering questions and requests

  • Manage payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information


  • Deep understanding of account reconciliation

  • Solid understanding of data entry

  • Expertise in payroll

  • Foundational knowledge in Microsoft Excel

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in payroll

  • Excellent analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • Knowledge of internal controls

  • Preference will be given to Certified Payroll detail oriented

  • Previous experience using accounting software

  • Proficient with high volume multi-state payroll, billing, licensing, AP, etc.

  • Knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations and requirements

  • Proficient knowledge of basic accounting principles and solid financial acumen

Job Description Position Summary: Responsible for the timely and accurate delivery of all payroll functions to include high level standards while in compliance with all state and federal regulations. The Director is charged with the payroll functions of all properties including properties in Hawaii, California, and Florida, as well as, other properties in other states that may join our portfolio. Job Responsibilities: * Ensure payroll processing is running smoothly and accurately. Establishes and implements procedures to improve business processes and gain efficiencies. * Directly responsible for the payroll department's running structure and to provide oversight to ensure efficient customer service, assess operational risk and manage the vendor relationships. * Serves as the Systems Administrator for the two payroll systems, PeopleSoft and Kronos,. Involvd in system upgrades and user testing. * Guarantees payroll tax payments are strictly in compliance with appropriate local, state and federal tax laws. * Establishes and implements policies on such matters as discrepancy payments and other payroll related operating procedures. * Esure the Pay policies are consistently being applied and is updated accordingly. * Sustains a strong association between human resources and finance/accounting to guarantee that their payroll procedures, information and needs are aligned for optimum efficiency. * Leads the team on all Payroll projects and ensures timely delivery of assigned initiatives. * Reviews payroll reports for accuracy and validate data to ensure job costs are properly captured to appropriate cost centers. Position Requirements: * Bachelors degree/diploma in Business or equivalent additional experience. Accounting Degree from an accredited college or university highly desirable. * 7 or more years' experience in Payroll with a minimum of 3 years' experience in a Director/Manager role. * Candidates should possess strong communication skills, customer service and organizational skills. * Proficiency with MicroSoft Office is expected and required. * Candidates with PeopleSoft and Kronos is desired. Prior experience with executing and evaluation of internal controls targeted at minimizing operational risks. * Certified Payroll Professional certificate preferred but is not required.
