The Payment Specialist is responsible for reconciling and posting electronic remittance advices using the check merge functionality within billing system. Functions include submission of bi-weekly and monthly reports to finance to transfer funds from the FPA/CBO holding account to the appropriate departmental revenue funds.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Reviews bank account for electronic fund transfer deposits
Merges checks and posts deposited funds electronically in billing system
Reviews and posts any required edits within 24 hours of deposit. Works with IDX Analysts to ensure edits are minimal
Reconciles electronic lockbox transactions, and posts any ERA files associated with the check deposits within 24 hours of deposit
Notifies payment posting manager of any checks that have to be posted manually
Monitors ERA denial postings and notifies IDX analysts of any discrepancies
Investigates unidentified cash and resolve misdirected payments
Runs bi-weekly and monthly fund transfer reports. This is a highly critical function that ensures providers are paid properly. Transfers monies from the FPA/CBO holding account to the appropriate departmental revenue funds
Mentors less experienced staff and assists Manager in the training and orientation of new employees
Performs other related duties
Education: HS Diploma/GED required; Associates degree is preferred
Experience: 4 years of health claims billing experience. Specific experience working electronic remittance advices and electronic fund transfers is preferred.
