This position requires the employee to build new harnesses as needed, draw the ends through the harnesses before being installed in the loom, and help repair quality defects on the cloth at the loom. This employee may be required to fill-in weave, smash, or draw/lease.
Take apart old harnesses
Put new guides, hooks, slats, ribs, braces, and heddles on harnesses
Draw patterns and reeds for new harnesses using starter warp
Install drop wires and electro bars after new pattern is installed
Smash ends on loom to complete pattern change
Smash quality defects and splice cloth to remove defects
Lease warps for pattern changes, including pick leasing
Assist in loom style changes
Smash ends, add drop wires, etc.
Measure warps as required for warp out projection
Keep Harness shop clean and in order
Perform any miscellaneous duties as required by supervision
Must have High School Diploma or GED
Must have good verbal and written communication skills
Must be able to work in a team with minimum supervision
Must be able to work weekends, holidays, overtime, and shifts as required
Must have good safety, work, and attendance record
Must be able to walk, stand, stoop, and bend for extended periods of time
Must have 12 months experience as a weaver, smasher, or drawer/leaser.
