Overview
The Patrol On-Hill Supervisor works as a leader of a team managing on-hill risk, executing mountain rescues, responding to medical emergencies, and providing a safe and welcoming environment to the public. This role is responsible for staff supervision and development, resource allocation and management, risk management, and emergency scene management. The On-Hill Supervisor supports other team members in difficult situations and represents the resort in significant decisions, while exercising sound judgment with consideration of effects on other departments and the company. This position is Full-Time Seasonal from November 1 to April 15, and reports to the Patrol Director.
Responsibilities
Facilitates resource management across Patrol Areas; provides assistance where resources are constrained
Facilitates communication between/among Patrol Areas
Facilitates interdepartmental communication
Works toward resort-wide consistency in risk management efforts and guest experience
Facilitates ongoing training and staff development
Participates in the Incident Investigation process as directed by the Patrol management team
Seeks and pursues opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the Patrol team
Assists in guiding and teaching less-experienced staff in all of the above
Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years of age
High School Diploma
Must have an EMT, WFR, or OEC certification or greater at time of hire. Within the first 2 seasons, attains and maintains current Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC) certification
Current healthcare provider CPR/AED certification
Expert-level ski or snowboard ability
Comfortable working with children and adults of all ages
Leadership knowledge and ability
Calm, professional demeanor; inclusive; accepting
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Confidence in handling stressful situations, including difficult guest interactions
Recommended Qualifications
One or more full seasons of experience as a full time Sunday River Patrol Foreman
Other experience working in the customer service or hospitality industry
Other experience in healthcare, especially in an emergency setting
Other experience with climbing or rescue tools, such as ropes, carabiners, and friction devices; and techniques, such as belaying or mechanical advantage systems
Other leadership experience
Completion of one or more leadership classes
Compensation & Benefits
