All positions include weekend and holiday scheduling

Pay: $19.62 - $25.75
Job Summary: The full-time patrol officer is scheduled to work 40 hours a week performing patrol officer duties and special assignments from the Campus Safety Department. Patrol officers are licensed by the State of Tennessee as unarmed proprietary security officers and must pass a criminal background check.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Learns policies and procedures of Southern Adventist University and enforces them.
Receive and maintain regular training, licensure, and certification in:
Tennessee State unarmed proprietary security officer license
CPR/AED
Basic First Aid
Defensive physical tactics, including handcuffing methods
Chemical spray usage and application
Collapsible baton usage and application
CLERY, Title IX, and TIBRS reporting
Legal responsibilities
Respond to, document, and report on:
Medical emergencies
Fire alarms and emergencies
Crime and criminal investigations
General safety concerns
Performs regular security patrols of campus property, buildings and parking lots by vehicle, foot, and bicycle.
Coordinates emergency incident command response in accordance with National Incident Management standards and training
Performs services including:
Motorist assists, such as jump starts and air in tires
Emergency apartment or building access
Safety escorts
Learns the Vehicle and Traffic Regulations. Assists in parking management including patrolling parking lots, writing citations, placing road cones and barricades, and directing traffic.
Assists with dispatch services as needed, including:
Receiving and documenting phone calls
Monitoring radio traffic
Monitoring doors, closed-circuit cameras, and fire alarm systems
Maintain daily computer log of call response and security patrol documentation.
Performs all other reasonably business-related functions as assigned by the director of Campus Safety.
Qualifications: Degree in related field preferred but not required. Any/All previously earned certificates and documentation to be submitted with application. Must be able to maintain physical training, first aid, and TN security license certification yearly. Must pass criminal background check. Must have computer skills including familiarity with MS Office. Be a self-starter and be able to work without direct supervision. Must possess good organizational skills. Must have leadership qualities and a willingness to learn new systems and procedures. Must be a team player, loyal to the university and Campus Safety. Be able to read, write, and speak English fluently. Must possess a valid driver's license and have a good driving record. (Pass University Transportation Department driving record check)
Typical Physical Demands: Normally requires walking, sitting, standing, bending, and reaching. May occasionally require additional physically demanding movement, including sprinting, jumping, rolling, striking and blocking movements with arms and legs, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, use keys, manipulate handcuffs, and use a touchscreen device. Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
Working Conditions: Most job functions are performed in buildings with normal lighting and temperature conditions. Some job functions, such as security patrols and traffic control, are performed outside in any weather conditions.
Special Requirement: Must have a strongly expressed commitment to Jesus Christ, the teachings and mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, an SDA church member in good and regular standing.
