Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, provide nursing unit with efficient and appropriate assistance with selected patient and unit needs. May also perform a variety of clerical duties and various tasks to provide a well-supplied, safe, and clean patient unit.
The Patient Sitter/Mobility Tech will provide mobility opportunities and education to various patients. They will offer assistance accessing our facility#and help set patients up for eating. They will perform#patient sitting for patients requiring 1:1.
It is important they encourage a culture of positivity and enthusiasm. The Patient Sitter/Mobility Tech#will also perform other duties as required.# #
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1.Provide mobility opportunities for the various medical surgical patients, including bed mobility, upright sitting, transfers, wheelchair use and ambulation using the protocol following assessment. 2. Provide clear and effective patient education about the importance of mobility, vertical positioning, progressing from in to out of bed, and fall prevention. 3.
Develop as a resource for patient mobility, serving as a mentor to floor staff in environmental set up, the use of devices, mobility techniques and body mechanics to safely promote the highest level of patient mobility. 4. Offer assistance in accessing our facility such as opening doors, helping with wheel chairs, elevators, walkers, etc. 5. Completes hourly rounding for patient experience on all assigned patients to include safety checks per unit standards utilizing a rounding script/checklist. 6.
Assist in delivering meal trays and setting patients up to eat. 7. Encourages a culture of positivity and enthusiasm in the staff by demonstrating a positive attitude and an ability to work with others in a cooperative effort to ensure patient satisfaction, staff engagement, and continuous quality improvement. 8. Performs patient sitting for patients requiring 1:1 after successful completion of required learning activities. 9.
Assists with lifting, positioning, and dressing of patients. 10. Lifting responsibilities are defined as total body transfers requiring maximal assistance to and from: (1) bed to/from chair/wheelchair; (2) bed to/from gurney; (3) bed to/from toilet/commode; (4) floor to bed; (5) repositioning (e.g., turning and up in bed), (6) any other lift where total body movement of a non-ambulatory patient is required. 11. Provide patient transportation and assist nursing and inpatient therapies with patient handling tasks and patient lifting as requested. 12.
Assists with the maintenance of overall unit organization and cleanliness. 13. Answers phones and handle calls appropriately. 14. Use appropriate equipment for all patient handling task to provide a safe environment for the patient and staff member. 15. Performs other duties as required or assigned
