Patient Sitter -Part Time Nights

Job Description

The Patient Sitter observes the patient and maintains a safe environment by continuously observing the patient and physically preventing the patient from harming themselves or others. They will complete their tasks/duties under the supervision and direction of an assigned Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and/or the Charge RN.

The Patient Sitter works with and supports the nursing team in providing services, which meets the patient's & unit needs. The Patient Sitter is able to render care in accordance with their skills, ability, and competencies to our patient population, thus may be required to float to other units.

Position Qualifications

Education:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Certifications/Experience:

BLS preferred upon hire or within 2 weeks of hire

Specific Patient Sitter duties and responsibilities can include:

Continuous patient observation for safety and well being

Documentation on observation flowsheet

Utilizes appropriate verbal & nonverbal skills which demonstrate respect for patients, patient's property and team members
