Patient Service Representatives (PSR) play a vital role at Aspen Dental-branded practices. PSR's are the first point of contact for patients at a practice, and also have key responsibilities in the coordination of many day-to-day administrative office activities. Reporting to the Office Manager, this position provides general office support with a variety of clerical activities and related tasks. Aspen Dental-branded practices are independently owned and operated by licensed dentists. The practices receive non-clinical business support services from Aspen Dental Management, Inc., a dental support organization.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and check in patients in a friendly manner.

  • Collect co-payments and verify insurance coverage.

  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments.

  • Prepare new patient charts neatly and accurately.

  • Various office duties as assigned by Office Manager.

  • Responding to patient billing or financial inquiries, directing to appropriate departments, as necessary.

  • Collect and post payments and record receipts.

  • Balance nightly deposits and complete credit card processing.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Candidates will have a minimum of two years experience in a healthcare office or fast-paced, highly interactive customer service environment - experience in the dental or medical industry with scheduling and verifying insurances preferred.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to exceed patient expectations.

  • Excellent organizational skills to effectively handle multiple tasks.

  • Flexibility to support change, with varying schedules as necessary.

  • Possess excellent interpersonal communication skills.

  • Resume must demonstrate stable employment history.

Proof of COVID vaccination necessary for employment as a healthcare worker in states with vaccination mandates.

The hospital features a 24-hour Emergency Department, an Ambulatory Surgery Center, and 39 medical and surgical specialties for patients ages 18 and older. The hospital has a 10-bed inpatient unit for overnight hospitalizations, a full range of diagnostic imaging services, a lab for blood work, an on-site pharmacy, eye care, hearing aid center, primary care providers, cancer treatment, a continence center and orthopedic care. Leading-edge technology at Lahey Medical Center, Peabody, includes an advanced CT scanner, on-site MRI, 3D mammography, radiation oncology and a state-of-the-art neurophysiology lab. About the Job This is 16 hours/week 11-8PM rotating shift Sun-Sat. Other shifts available so please apply and we can discuss schedule options with you! Position Summary: * Identifies records and verifies patient insurance coverage using real time eligibility (RTE); reviews the insurer's response to each verification request and takes appropriate action based on this response. * Efficiently registers patients, capturing and verifying all required information in order to identify the patient, contact the patient, and receive proper reimbursement for services on initial claim submission. * Initiates patient scheduling activities by prioritizing and accessing a variety of sources, including patient phone calls, orders, recall lists, scheduled order work queues and MyChart. * Establishes working relationships with staff of assigned clinical departments. Understands and correctly applies unique clinical department scheduling protocols. * Processes patient co-payments, co-insurance, deductibles and balances due. Safeguards cash, checks and receipts and reconciles the cash drawer at the end of each business day. Assists patients with Kiosk check-in as needed. * Instructs patients and obtains signatures on consent forms, financial forms and other documents required by the clinical department; distributes documents to patients; scans, processes and records receipt of all documents collected during registration encounter. Education: High school degree or equivalent Experience: Prior experience in a business setting providing customer service, while processing and verifying electronic demographic, financial or other business-related information and data. Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Able to work successfully in a fast-paced, multi-task environment, where some independent decision making is necessary. Must be able to process electronic information and data accurately and efficiently. Maintain strict adherence to the Lahey Health Confidentiality policy.
