Job Description:

Experienced, strong, front office staff person focused on providing an outstanding patient experience and the ability to work with the clinical team (including Physicians, Nurse Practitioners) as well as Medical Assistants, the Practice Manager and the Patient Services Supervisor to ensure appropriate quality care for patients of the Hill Health practice. Responsible for general office duties involved in running high quality medical practice.

Job Responsibilities

Patient Interactions including greeting, scheduling, phone calls, escorting to room

  • Greet incoming patients and visitors

  • Register patients, perform insurance verification, and collect co-pays and fees

  • Call patients to follow up or remind of appointments

  • Answer phones, and schedule patients

  • Obtain and enter accurate demographic information into the EHR and perform eligibility verification

Authorization and referral interactions:

  • Obtain insurance authorization from in-network and out-of-network insurance carriers

  • Process provider referral and authorization orders and track patient compliance

  • Maintain ongoing tracking and documentation for referrals and authorizations

  • Communicate with the ordering provider, practice and patient regarding referral and authorization status

  • Verify patient benefits and eligibility for procedures, diagnostic tests, physical therapy referrals and other orders as appropriate

Timely and accurate medical records management:

  • Identify, maintain and protect sensitive patient information

  • Collaborate with supervisor, providers, and claims to resolve problematic referral and/or authorization issues

  • Process medical record requests

  • Provide information as appropriate to specialists and insurance carriers per referral and authorization guidelines

Work on EHR system to enter data, update patients medical records, pull reports and scan and sort documents

Work flow processes including chart preparation and report follow up

  • Follow work flow processes as designed for chart preparation and proactive working of clinical and efficiency measures

  • Work patient due reports, using Aledade or Cozeva. This should result in increased compliance on clinical measures and appropriate HCC coding.

  • Review ED utilization reports, reaching out to patients as appropriate with high emergency department utilization

  • Review HMO assigned reports and conduct patient outreach

Other tasks and projects as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Required Experience -

  • Minimum 3 years in medical office work experience required

  • Experience using Electronic Health Record system, preferably Epic

  • Knowledge of medical terminology

  • Ability to multi-task

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

  • Attention to detail

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • A passion for patient care

  • A "can do" attitude, showing initiative and willingness to adapt to change

  • Ability to participate in strong team environment

  • General knowledge of HIPAA requirements.

  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT codes preferred

Required Education:

High school diploma or GED

Salary Range:

$26.91 - $29.92
