MGH Division of Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine is looking for a competent, knowledgable and energetic professional for the role of Patient Service Coordinator II. The PSC II provides administrative support to a high volume ambulatory care setting, functioning as the primary interface between patients and providers. The Patient Service Coordinator must be able to work as an integral part of the administrative team, as well as be able to work independently to identify and resolve administrative challenges as they arise.
The PSC II will:
Be on the team responsible for fielding all incoming calls to the outpatient clinic, properly triaging and/or addressing calls regarding appointment scheduling, follow up testing, medication refills, sick calls and prior authorizations.
Ensure that calls are answered promptly, and patient issues and concerns are addressed in a timely manner.
Function as the primary point person for a designated group of providers to support them in coordinating care for new and established patients.
Support the designated group of providers with any scheduling changes, closures, reschedules.
Respectfully and clearly communicate with all stakeholders.
Support the Division and colleagues by cross training and covering in other areas as needed.
Monitor and proactively work EMR inbasket messages and workqueues pertaining to patient care.
Cross cover at the front desk as needed, performing check-in and check-out functions.
Maintain confidentiality and privacy consistent with HIPAA guidelines.
Assist with all other shared office functions (i.e. mail and fax distribution, meeting planning, etc.)
Participate in additional projects as needed.
High School graduation required.
Minimum of 1 year of administrative experience, with a strong preference for work within a health care setting.
