Provide exceptional Customer Service in an ambulatory setting
Conduct Check In/Check Out
Schedule Patients for appointments, tests, and consults
Verify and Update Patient Information
Obtain referrals and/or prior authorizations
Confirm Patient Charges and Collect Payment
Maintain and Manage In-Baskets in a timely manner
Execute varied clerical tasks of the front office
Required Qualifications*
High School diploma or GED.
2-3 years of experience.
Demonstrated record of excellent attendance.
Demonstrated active listening, written, verbal and information technology skills.
Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team setting.
Communicates effectively.
This position can be underfilled at the assistant level, with a candidate that has a high school diploma or GED and 0-2 years of experience.
Desired Qualifications*
Solid working knowledge of computers and navigating multiple computer applications
Able to multi-task in a robust, fast paced environment
Professional and Positive Interaction with Patients, Providers, and Staff
Ability to work independently, identifying priorities while contributing as an active team member
Basic Medical Terminology
Existing MiChart or EHR experience
Knowledge of UMHS policies and procedures
Work Schedule
Shift/Hours/Days: 40 hours, Mon-Fri & Occasional Saturdays and evenings.

This position may be underfilled at a lower classification depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third-party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
In addition to the screenings indicated above under Michigan law, a criminal history check including fingerprinting is required as a condition of transfer or employment for this position.
