Current Need

We are looking for someone with excellent customer service skills to join our team. Working hours will be Monday-Friday 8:30AM-5:00PM. This position is open to Work at Home in the Pittsburgh area.

Position Description

This position is responsible for answering patient calls and researching and resolving issues in order to receive maximum profitability for clients. Reviews claims to make sure that payer specific billing requirements are met, follows-up on billing, determines and applies appropriate adjustments, answers inquiries, and updates accounts as necessary.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements
1+ years of work experience; Healthcare and/or Insurance billing or processing and customer service preferred; 7,000 alpha numeric skills.

Critical Skills

Call Center experience a plus

Usage of IVR Phone Systems a plus

Good typing skills

Excellent verbal communication skills

Additional Knowledge & Skills

Overall good knowledge of PAR responsibilities. Good understanding of the billing process and little supervision needed.

Open to Work at Home in Pittsburgh PA area.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent work experience

We are seeking candidates who will work within our Revenue Cycle Mobile Patient Access department as an Emergency Department Patient Access Representative. In this position you will be responsible for welcoming patients upon arrival, educating patients on their co-payments and financial obligations and collecting payments (when applicable) along with collecting consent signatures. Candidates interested in this position must be willing to travel to UPMC Emergency Departments throughout Allegheny County and Cranberry to work a variety of shifts. Casual employment requires 16 hours of availability, including at least one weekend day per month. Casual employees are scheduled off of their availability, and we have daylight, evening and overnight hours available! Responsibilities: * Ability to remain calm and professional when faced with stressful situations, while simultaneously prioritizing all work activities. * Accountable for accurate registration into hospital ADT and/or clinical system during system downtime with monitoring and reconciliation of every patient for accuracy * Accountable for maintaining a close working relationship with clinical partners to assure continual open communication with pertinent information obtained such as any alias name changes, information blocks to prevent release of information, and behavioral health insurance payors to assure timely data integrity of accounts. * Anticipates and responds to inquiries from patients, visitors, hospital personnel, government agencies, etc. under all conditions and circumstances. * Central Resource for all ADT registration and problem resolution during evenings, weekends and holidays. * Counsels patients regarding insurance coverage and expected financial liability. Collects and records patient payments including co-payments, co-insurance, and deductibles on the day of service. * Facilitator of financial gatekeeping with clinical partners. * Generates and completes all applicable forms and necessary communications. Obtains applicable signature for consent to treat and financial responsibility, along with signatures on any required forms, while following all HIPAA rules and regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality. * Proper patient identification to start clinical record. Works independently to perform a timely patient interview and registration for services at the bed side. Obtains or updates necessary demographic and insurance related information. Confirms insurance eligibility, accountable for third party reimbursement and coordination of benefits to support a seamless billing process. * Responsible for reconciliation and maintenance of First Net Emergency Department Tracking Board and Hospital ADT system. * Support and contribute to UPMC service excellence mission and abide by all UPMC departmental policies, procedures, goals, and values in the process of performing all job responsibilities. Incorporates acts of dignity and respect in daily interactions. Qualifications * Completion of high school diploma or equivalent. * Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are required. * Two years of experience in a medical, billing, fiscal or customer service function is preferred. * Experience with personal computer based applications, other various office equipment and proficient typing skills. * Medical terminology and third party health care coverage experience preferred. * Initiative to work productively with minimal supervision. * Able to work well under pressure.
