This position communicates effectively with patients by accepting either inbound or outbound calls to identify their needs. This may include reviewing protocols and patient history; scheduling/rescheduling/confirming/canceling appointments; accepting electronic payments; processing prescription renewals; providing physician referrals; HIPAA verifications; registering or updating patient demographics; confirming insurance acceptance and electronic verification; may be required to interact with physician office staff either verbally or in writing; may provide technical support for on-line patient portal; and document all call outcomes. This position builds strong communication skills and standard knowledge of scheduling, including the ability to navigate confidently through basic protocols.
Obtains current patient information from established and new patients
Accurately enters/updates patient information in scheduling system.
Identifies payer source, and verifies insurance eligibility.
Assists patients with completion of paperwork when necessary.
Reviews Scheduling System for needed updated demographics and consent forms.
Identifies patients by date of birth and name in computer system.
Creates new account if patient not in the system.
Schedules and re-schedules appointments as needed.
Accurately message or transfers call to physicians and nurses when protocol indicated.
Protects/observes patient confidentiality per policies and procedures.
Accurately imports registration documents into patient's electronic health record.
As appropriate accepts electronic payments.
Knowledge/skills & Certifications
Bilingual a plus
Medical/dental office or medical scheduling knowledge a plus
Ability to input data accurately into computer system.
Ability to effectively interact with physicians, patients and other staff members; good interpersonal and active listening skills.
Ability to demonstrates customer service skills; must be courteous, professional and cooperative
Ability to accurately takes messages and conveys information to recipient, detail oriented with good written skills
Ability to follow policies and procedures;
