The Patient Safety Specialist is responsible for assisting the Patient Safety/Accreditation Officer with the implementation of the system-wide patient safety improvement and management program. They also assist with the identification and education of staff in system and process improvement initiatives. Identify and report to the Patient Safety/Accreditation Officer adverse occurrences, events, and unintended patient outcomes that are reportable to Regulatory Bodies (DHR, Joint Commission etc.). They initiate and perform Root Cause Analysis, FMEA's, and Due Diligence reviews specific to adverse outcomes, sentinel events and medical errors.
Baccalaureate degree in public health, epidemiology, or other health care related field required.
Current Georgia Licensed Registered Nurse required.
One to two years of experience in quality, risk and patient safety principles required.
Knowledge of the current Joint Commission standards, performance improvement and survey process required.
Excellent teaching, consultative and interpersonal skills. Clear understanding of the timeliness of the organization reporting reportable events to regulatory bodies.
Superior organizational, interpersonal and time management skills.
Self-motivated, strong oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge and experience with use of computer and related software programs.
Good leadership skills, problem solving ability and must maintain and direct confidential issues as appropriate.
Demonstrated experience with data collection, data analysis and data reporting.
