The Patient Safety Attendant (PSA) participates in high-quality, patient-centered care by providing continuous observation and monitoring for high risk patients. In collaboration with the patient care team, the PSA ensures the patient environment is free of obstacles and minimizes risk of falls and accidental or intentional self-harm. The Sitter may also assist with basic activities of daily living.


  • Answering and directing incoming calls and greeting, directing, and assisting patients and families

  • Rolling phones to the answering service nightly

  • New patient intake/request of patient records

  • Patient call reminders, via phone tree service through EMR

  • Scheduling of new patient, follow up, and infusion appointments

  • QCL notifications sent via EMR

  • Faxing of orders to Central Scheduling/outside facilities

  • Making photocopies, sending faxes, and shredding documents

  • Stocking and distributing office supplies


  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple functions required.

  • Basic computer and keyboard skills required.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

  • Clerical experience in a similar size facility with similar services provided is preferred.
