Working under the supervision of a nurse, the patient safety attendant maintains constant direct observation and visualization of identified patient(s).
Successful completion of hospital behavioral management program (verbal & physical) within first 30 days of employment.
Watches patients at all times, never leave the patient unattended without proper relief.
Correctly identifies behaviors, events, or environmental factors that may predispose a patient to violent/destructive actions or increased agitation, reports sign of escalation to the patient's nurse.
Keep patient room door partially open at all times, remove dangerous items from room, identify ligature/suicide risks and mitigate or eliminate those risks, screen all items brought into the room by visitors, and avoid wearing items around the neck.
Maintains patient information confidentiality.
Maintain competencies required for position.
High school diploma or equivalent Required
CNA certification is desired.
American Heart Association BLS is required upon hire.
