Job Summary:
Responsible for medical billing functions and submission of claims to third-party payers for payment. Reviews claims to verify accuracy and completeness of charges. Researches denied or incomplete bills. Submits secondary claims, makes claim adjustments, and corrects claims as needed. Ability to submit letters of appeal with proper documentation to insurance carriers. Works closely with district departments; providing updates regarding codes, benefits limits or changes for patients' health insurance, including state and federal programs. Interacts with patients; understanding medical benefits, processing patient payments, and resolves minor billing complaints.

Education Background and Experience
Minimum Education:
High school graduate or equivalent.
Required Licensure / Certifications:
Required Experience:
Preferred Qualifications:
One (1) or more years' experience in medical billing
EPIC experience
Professional Requirements
Maintain regulatory requirements.
Report to work on time and as scheduled; complete work within designated timelines.

Demonstrates the ability to communicate with patients, guests and staff in a courteous, respectful and helpful manner.
Essential Job Functions
Interacts daily with patients/families regarding billing problems and insurance information.
Polished phone demeanor, tone, and etiquette are required.
Investigate and follow up on questions/issues to resolve concerns in an accurate and timely manner, communicating information to the appropriate staff as needed.
Demonstrates the ability to assist patients and insurance companies with respect.
Compiles hospital claims, completes appropriate forms, submits claims to proper agencies/insurance companies; electronically and/or paper as needed.
Contacts patients/insurance companies to collect unpaid insurance claims.
Documents all correspondence and conversations with insurance companies, governmental agencies, third party payers and patients on patient 's account.
Stays informed about changes in Medicare and Medicaid.
Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, organized and function well in stressful situations.
Interacts with patients/families in a professional manner. Treats patients/families with respect; ensures confidentiality of patient records.
Maintains a good working relationship within the department and with other departments.
Maintains a professional working relationship with insurance companies.
Compensation/How We Care For You:
Successful candidates typically begin between the beginning and midpoint of the compensation range ($19.04- $22.43./hour) dependent on qualifications/experience and receive compensation increment increases annually.
