Patient Remote Observer needed for Cardiac Surveillance

Cardiac Surveillance provides remote telemetry monitoring for patients across UNC Medical Center and UNC Hillsborough. Areas monitored include inpatient units and observation patients.

The Patient Remote Observer is responsible for maintaining visual observation at all times, and verbally redirects patient over digital 2-way audio device that is in patient room. This position provides continuous monitoring of up to 15 patients on one screen at one time and remains alert at all times while on duty.

Demonstrates understanding and proficiency of the use of the AvaSys Tele-Sitter Solution Software. Strong communication skills are required to effectively communicate with patients using a microphone and headset, and to communicate with hospital staff and respond quickly to patient behavioral changes. Ability to use discretion and courtesy when working with patients, visitors, and staff.

Must have basic computer operation skills and basic Microsoft windows experience. Must be efficient with multitasking, and have the ability to prioritize simultaneous situations.

This position is considered an at-will position requiring a minimum of 24 hours per month; rotating shifts (7a-7p, 7p-7a) with weekend rotation. There are no benefits associated with this position. Must be able to commit to Hospital Nursing Orientation which is for a full week Monday-Friday, 7:30am-5:00pm.

Requires high school diploma or equivalent. Nursing Assistant I must be listed with the NC Division of Health Service Regulation.

Current certification in Healthcare Provider BLS/CPR required. One (1) year of experience as a nursing assistant is required.

The CICU provides patient and family centered care with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to medical cardiology patients. The CICU specializes in treatment of acute and chronic heart failure, cardiogenic shock, post cardiac arrest, STEMI and NSTEMI, noninvasive valve repair (TAVR), and vascular patients. This position functions in a dual role, an NA II and a Health Unit Coordinator. This position involves utilizing your NA II skills while providing both indirect and direct care to patients and families as well as performing a wide range of clerical duties and administrative tasks. The CST II in this position must also possess excellent communication and customer service skills with a team approach. Basic knowledge and skills utilizing various computer systems is strongly preferred. The CICU is part of UNC Center for Health and Vascular Care whose mission is to provide an interdisciplinary approach to the care of patients with cardiac and vascular disease. Within the Center for Health and Vascular Care you will encounter a variety of learning experiences and a dynamic work environment that will appeal to all.
