Ensures that all necessary demographic, billing, and clinical information is obtained and entered in the registration system with timeliness and accuracy.

Distributes and explains forms, documents, and educational handouts to patients or family members.

Meets with patient or patient's caregiver before or after admission to exchange necessary information and documentation. Provides explanation of process and addresses concerns and questions.

Communicates with admitting physician's office, nursing unit staff, and/or other appropriate personnel regarding admission to exchange necessary information and determine placement.

Verifies insurance benefits and obtains precertification/authorization as necessary. Determines and accepts required payments, including co-pays and deductibles, or refers to financial counselors for follow up.

Balance the cash and checks each day and prepare the deposits.

Responsible for all patient rescheduling.High school diploma or equivalent required

Required SkillsExcellent communication and customer service skills. Medical office software experience necessary.

Uses consistent good judgment and discretion. Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instruction. Working knowledge of ICD and CPT medical terminology.

Typing or data entry at 35 wpm. Knowledge of business office procedures; use of proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

Prefer 1 year in a medical office/physician practice environment

To provide excellent service and assistance to the patients of the RHC as well as co-workers in the RHC. To represent the RHC in a professional manner to all external contacts. To support the goals and objectives of the RHC while delivering all services. To supervise the clerical staff of the RHC with respect and efficiency. Education: High school diploma required. Some college preferred. Experience: Prefer minimum of three years in a healthcare /medical office setting. Physician practice experience desirable. Management or supervisory experience preferred. Skills: Knowledge of business office procedures; knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation to type patient information, skill in operating a computer and photocopy machine, skill in greeting patients and answering the telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner. Ability to speak clearly and concisely. Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instruction. Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetic and numeric systems. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, patients, employees, and the public. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Requires manual dexterity to handle heavy paperwork volume, operate keyboard, calculator, photocopy machine, and other office equipment. Requires eyesight correctable to 20/20 to read number, policies, and computer terminals. Requires hearing within normal range for telephone use.
