Patient Financial Counselor

The Financial Counselor will be responsible for collecting patient share amounts on all inpatient admissions. The Financial Counselor will determine the amount due from each patient based on a review of the patient's insurance coverage information.

The Financial Counselor will provide each patient with a written estimate of his or her patient share amount and will make the initial collection attempt to collect the amount due. In the alternative, an acceptable payment plan will be established.

A. Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

B. Experience: One to two years previous experience in Patient Access, Patient Accounting, Collections, or related healthcare environment preferred.

E. Specialized Skills:
Ability to interact with the public, i.e. children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics in an appropriate and professional manner.

F. Physical Requirements:
Manual dexterity and visual acuity necessary to utilize the PC and calculator. Visual acuity also necessary for filing and proofing documents. Ability to sit, walk and stand for prolonged periods of time. Verbal communication and hearing ability to communicate with a multitude of customers. Frequent lifting of patient luggage 25-45 lbs.)
