CentraCare, nestled in the heart of Minnesota, invites passionate and skilled Patient Financial Counselor to join our dynamic team. As a Financial Counselor, you'll be instrumental in ensuring patients have a clear understanding of their financial responsibilities and options when it comes to healthcare expenses. Expertise in Medicaid and other assistance programs is essential for guiding patients through the complexities of insurance coverage and payment arrangements.

Schedule:

  • Full-time | 80 hours every two weeks | CentraCare Plaza

  • Day shift | 8-hour shifts | 8am-4:30pm

Pay and Benefits:

  • $18.90 or more per hour, pay determined by experience

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in business or a healthcare related program or 2 years relevant healthcare or collection experience in lieu of education preferred

  • HPE and MNsure Certification within 60 days of hire

  • Experience with use of Microsoft Office suite, computer systems and software

  • Ability to research insurance

  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a timely manner with attention to detail and accuracy

  • Knowledge of billing and collection principles, including all applicable laws and regulations pertinent to healthcare collections is preferred.

  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English; Bi-lingual Spanish or Somali a plus.

Department info:

The Financial Counselor is responsible for working with patients virtually or in person to provide information regarding anticipated expenses, insurance coverage, payment options/resources and financial assistance programs. They should have in-depth knowledge of Medicaid and its affiliated programs so we can best meet the needs of our patients. The Financial Counselor should strive to handle accounts in ways that best affect patient experience and minimize bad debts. Supports and implements patient safety and other safety practices as appropriate. Supports and demonstrates Family Centered Care principles when interacting with patients, their families and with co-workers.
