Job Summary

Responsible for self-pay collections when the patient is uninsured or there is a residual patient balance after insurance, making financial arrangements and informing patients of all coverage options, such as Medicaid or charity care. Ensures reimbursement to Air Methods from patients or other responsible parties and assist patients in understanding their healthcare insurance coverage and any patient liability. Make final determinations on collectability and balances.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Manage all incoming/outgoing calls from/to patients/guarantors, insurance companies, and attorneys. Transfer calls to the appropriate department, if necessary.

  • Thoroughly review, document, and resolve all customer communications.

  • Provide information to customers about coverage options and payment options.

  • Other Duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 1 year experience in healthcare billing/collections field with knowledge of Medicaid and Medicare programs and commercial insurances preferred

  • 1 year experience in financial debt counseling

  • Previous Dialer experience preferred

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Provide excellent customer service to include compassion and empathy while focusing on account resolution.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Advanced customer service and phone skills

  • Ability to multi-task efficiently, works in a fast paced environment on multiple projects, and has a strong attention for detail

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

Computer Skills

  • Basic with Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel and Outlook

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • American Association of Healthcare Administration Management (AAHAM) certified within 6 months of hire

Persons in the position report to the Program Manager for the program to which the position is assigned.<br /> <br /> <br /> You may be assigned to one of the following positions (depending on your qualifications):<br /> <br /> <br /> Perinatal Program Manager<br /> <br /> <br /> Perinatal Drug Therapist<br /> <br /> <br /> Perinatal Case Manager<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES<br /> <br /> <br /> Typical responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to:<br />  </p> <ul> <li>Conduct individual counseling sessions and facilitates group counseling sessions</li> <li>Assist with the development of counseling programs designed to aid the rehabilitation and social adjustment of clients</li> <li>Determine the need for and facilitates client referral to other programs and/or services</li> <li>Assist professional staff in developing and implementing programs to help in the rehabilitation of clients</li> <li>Assist clients in developing appropriate plans for treatment</li> <li>Perform intake duties, including assessing the appropriate fee based on the financial resources of each client</li> <li>Arrange for medical and laboratory services, vocational counseling, legal and other needed services</li> <li>Assist with developing programs that make full use of community resources</li> <li>Assist with providing crisis intervention and prevention services</li> <li>Maintain social data records to meet casework and accountability requirements</li> <li>Assist with the preparation of administrative reports concerning caseload, program statistics and related items</li> <li>Attend training sessions, staff development and other in-service training as directed by management</li> <li>Maintain case management and necessary client/chart documentation</li> <li>Other duties as assigned.</li> </ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<br /> <br /> <br /> 60 semester or 90 quarter units of college level course work in psychology, sociology, counseling, human behavior or a related field.
