Position Summary:

The Patient & Family Relations/Data Specialist is responsible for handling customer concerns and Customer Service functions, assuring that all aspects of the recovery processes meet the needs of both the organization and customers. The incumbent also provides data reporting, analytic and administrative support.

The Specialist works with Quality Management Consultants and Quality Management Department to assure clinical patterns/trends are aggregated with other system data to identify areas requiring improvement. This position is responsible for strategic deployment and tracking of performance improvement results of Health System resources to maximize customer satisfaction with complaint resolution and minimize key issues generating complaints.

Minimum Requirements:

Five or more years in direct Customer Service experience within the healthcare field will be considered in lieu of a degree.

One year customer service experience

Significant experience in project management, managing targets and timelines.

Experience in facilitating groups and managing improvement processes

Direct clinical healthcare experience preferred

High administrative acuity

Experience analyzing data and creating presentations

Consideration may be given to internal candidates not meeting the minimum qualifications

Education/Licenses/Certifications:

Bachelor's degree in healthcare, communications, business or related field

Job Summary This job is responsible for monitoring patients with behavioral/cognitive issues or other areas of potential concern who need to be observed on a continual basis in order to quickly identify circumstances that could impact their ongoing safety and care. Monitoring is executed from a remote location, using live non-recorded streaming video equipment to ensure that the patient is interacting with the environment in a safe and appropriate manner at all times. An incumbent monitors patients for signs of detrition, agitation, impulsiveness and/or attempts to get of bed/chair unassisted, for pulling on lines, tubes or other medical devices and for vomiting in patients wearing C-pap or Bi-pap masks. Work also includes establishing/maintaining effective communication channels with bedside direct patient care staff, reporting potentially dangerous changes in patient behavior, and escalating communications as necessary using established protocols and best judgment. Essential Duties Observes assigned patients by monitoring non-recorded streaming video equipment linked to a live feed from a camera situated in the patient's room. Maintains continuous surveillance of assigned patients/rooms to ensure patient is interacting appropriately with care environment and surroundings; initiates communication with patient as appropriate. Directs patient care staff to the patient room when necessary. Reports camera disruption or obstructions to patient care team in a timely manner. Identifies changes in the patient's behavior and/or condition in accordance with established guidelines. In response to observed changes in patient behavior and notifies care staff of observed changes. Increased agitation; Interacting inappropriately with care tools (e.g. IV pumps, lines, drains or airways); Attempts to leave bed/chair, etc. Identifies inappropriate behavior from patient visitors and notifies care staff. Identifies and requests corrective action to be taken to address obstructed camera view. Initiates timely communication (through communications system or telephone) with on-site clinical staff to report situations needing immediate and direct intervention to maintain patient safety and comfort. Quickly notifies bedside care staff of changes using phone, communications system, cell phone or other communication device as necessary. Communicates with patient/family in the room, quickly, professionally and with courtesy and kindness. Communicates any sub-optimal viewing conditions to bedside staff, suggest corrective action and determines whether patient can be safely observed. Documents observations and subsequent actions taken to maintain timely and accurate record. Documents, using established Electronic Medical Record tool, calls to care providers, changes in patient condition and visits by family and friends. Documents and reports adverse events using the IRIS system. Documents and reports system and/or equipment malfunctions to the appropriate party. Performs related duties as required. Education/Experience Any combination of related education and experience that would demonstrate attainment of the requisite job knowledge/abilities to perform the duties of the position. License/Certification Current Certified Nursing Assistant license with the Washington State Department of Health.
