  • Job Summary

  • Under the supervision of the System Director of Patient Experience, works closely with leadership to identify, plan, implement, and sustain improvement strategies as it pertains to patient experience satisfaction. Responsible for supporting the organization in achieving and sustaining the strategic goals specific to our service delivery expectation of providing a consistent and high level of service to our patients, families, and visitors. Will work with employees of all levels of the organization, clinical and non-clinical, by providing coaching, consultation, encouragement, and applied accountability to influence delivery of excellent patient experiences.

  • Job Requirements

  • Education

  • Required: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Healthcare, Social Science, or a related field OR 10 years' healthcare experience

  • Preferred: Master's Degree Related areas as listed above

  • Experience

  • Required: 2 years in leadership and/or coaching, training, and development

  • Preferred: 3-5 years' experience coaching evidence-based practices

  • Skills

  • Superior interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills with many leaders, staff, and providers at all levels of the organization.

  • Excellent strategic thinking skills.

  • Proven ability of successful completion and sustainability of projects.

  • Must be well organized and have an aptitude for detail.

  • Must be able to work independently.

  • Must have strong computer skills especially within Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Must be able to present before large groups, engage leaders, and encourage development.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and display flexibility in a fast paced and changing work environment.

  • Must be able and willing to cross-train, assist fellow employees, and be an effective team player.

  • Demonstrated interviewing and consulting skills including the ability to propose action with confidence and active results through influence.

  • Demonstrated relationship building and credibility skills.

Under the direction of the ministry Vice President, Patient Experience & Strategic Initiatives this position will provide project management, data analysis and other support for Mercy's patient experience strategy and initiatives. Analysis & Reporting * Generate and publish standard monthly reports for team/department MDI board * Prepare report sets for strategic planning and community review/process improvement sessions * Generate and distribute ad hoc reports to assist champions & operational leaders in targeting improvement opportunities * Create ad-hoc correlation analyses and bubble matrix reports Project Management * Project tracking & task management for ministry patient experience initiatives: hospital, clinic, ED and full continuum projects * Champion team agendas, speaker prep & follow-up * Retreat planning, agenda development & logistics support * Establish VP/team rounding schedule & capture of community specific action items for follow up Develop & Package Champion/Leader Resources * Catalog best practices by instrument/question * Package shadow coach/observation training tools * Work w/ TDO on training program needs (BSR, Rounding, IHC, etc.) * Manage Patient Experience "Toolkits" for leaders and front line coworkers on Baggot Street Intranet Site * Manage/maintain/consolidate champion share points Industry Research & Contribution * Perform research on industry best practices and emerging strategies * Interview internal and external healthcare leaders to collect proven tactics and tools demonstrated to improve and sustain patient experience outcomes. * Create proposals and submissions for industry conferences and publications Serve as a Peer Coach/Subject Matter Expert * Support new champion onboarding and training on standard reports and analysis * Provide observational analysis for front/back end operations teams * Shadow coach providers (physicians, APC's) to provide objective feedback * Engage with community champions to understand barriers to the patient experience or improvement * Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in quality, mission, operations, human resources, data management, MTS and other key stakeholder departments to address identified barriers. * Facilitate assigned project team calls/meetings.
