Under direct supervision of Leadership, the purpose of the position is to provide support to the Store and provide customer service to patients. Colleagues in this classification perform greeting, customer service, sales support, dispensing and doctor's assistance work. The position is responsible for greeting patients, preparing patients for doctor's visits, and assisting patients with the purchase of contacts and glasses. The Responsibility is to create an efficient patient flow and flawless transition as it relates to the retail portion of the company. Performs related work as directed. The Patient Coordinator will be required to meet the productivity numbers outlined while maintaining a high level of customer service.

The Patient Coordinator will create a customer experience for the patient while using proper dispensing techniques. The dispensing process will include determination of the power ranges and specific lens measurements by frame; measure, fit, and adapt lenses and frames for client according to written optical prescription or specification.

  • Sales Facilitation

  • Provide the Easy Eye Care Vision to all Patients

  • Fosters a strong partnership between the retail environment and professional services.

  • Maintain a professional and supportive relationship with every associate and doctor.

  • Answer phones; direct calls to appropriate individual/department.

  • Sell glasses, solutions, contact lenses, leader's specials, etc.

  • Schedule appointments, confirm all patient appointments, and greet patients

  • Eliminate "exam only" appointments.

  • Enter new patient history and personal information in the system.

  • Complete pre-test; obtain brief medical history, complete noncontact tonometry autorefraction, visual acuity, color test, stereopsis test, Amsler grid test, etc.

  • Instruct patients on wearing schedule and insertion and removal of contacts.

  • Neutralize old Rx lenses.

  • Dispense, adjust and troubleshoot glasses to patients

  • Maintain patient charts; update as necessary

  • Maintain inventory; replenish as necessary.

  • Maintain quality control standards; ensure total patient satisfaction.

  • Assist the Management Team with patient complaint resolution and inform the status of all jobs; ensure all patient expectations are met.


Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; supplemented by six (6) months experience optical sales or equivalent; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Word, Google Docs, etc.

  • Ability to interact successfully with both internal and external customers at all levels.

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and be flexible with changing business needs in a team environment.

  • Must display superior verbal and written skills.

  • Interpersonal skills are necessary to deal effectively with a diverse group.

In this position you will: * Performs care coordination/case management tasks for patients as needed (coordinating with MD's, families, home health etc.) Assists and discusses with patients any areas of concern and assists patients with medications and treatments as stated in the service plan. Reviews and performs vital sign checks. Documents essential information in patient's chart. * Works with a team approach to complete daily operational needs and provides leadership to ensure work processes are within standards. * Promotes and routinely offers comfort and pain management measures. Documentation reflects assessment, treatment and re-assessment as required to meet patient goals. * Safeguards all forms (Electronic, written and oral) of confidential information as it relates to patients, their families, medical staff and employees. Is aware of and compliant with organizational polices regarding Fraud and Abuse, Conflict of Interest and the Code of Conduct. * Coordinates staffing to meet patient needs on a day-to-day basis. Ensures PG's and other staff understand their assignments and are able to perform them to established standards. * Participates in staff meetings and promotes the department quality improvement process. * Responds to, and reports, real or simulated emergency and disaster situations according to system procedure. * Completes floor restocking order sheets. Required qualifications for this position include: * Graduate of an accredited approved School of Nursing * Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Alaska * Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire * Strong assessment skills Preferred qualifications for this position include: * Prior experience in orthopedics About Forest View Forest View is a short stay facility and is licensed by the State of Alaska as an Assisted Living Facility, located in Building S of the Providence Health Park on Piper Street. Forest View provides a rapid recovery environment for patients requiring a variety of nursing and physical therapy services for a short period of time following their surgery at one of the local surgery centers in Anchorage.
