Operational Duties:

  • Assist in the transfer, positioning, and transport of patients.

  • Assists with turning over operating rooms between cases

  • Performs terminal cleaning of surgical area.

  • Maintains sufficient supply levels and orderliness of all equipment and supplies.

  • Assists patients with urinals, bedpans, and emesis basins

  • Assist with keeping waiting areas, lobbies, utility rooms, and patient care areas safe and clean for patients, visitors, and staff.

  • Assist in monitoring and recording in environmental and equipment log. Answer phones and data entry.

  • Uses equipment in safe and effective manner; reporting repairs to appropriate person.

  • Competent and responsible in prevention of contamination and transfer of infection.

  • Assist in sterile processing, as needed.


  • One year patient care assistant, nursing assistant, or environmental services experience in a healthcare setting (preferred).


  • Valid BCLS Certification upon employment*online certification not acceptable.

Develops policies and procedures to assure compliance with CMS (Medicare/Medicaid)or any other agency that UHS is contractually required to follow. Responsibility includes: oversight of University Health System's facility billing and collection of patient accounts receivable, maintenance of PBS departments dictionaries and transaction codes for PBS departments systems software, Provides Supervision of Coordinators and PBS staff in the billing and follow-up areas of the department, Operational responsibility for adherence to contract agreements with payers in billing and follow up, and support for the CRO Office for audits as they relate to Patient Business Services. Develops along with Director, budget for areas of responsibility and is responsible for variance reporting to Director. Provides oversight and leadership for other areas in the department as defined by the Director of Patient Business Services. Oversees the correct Time and Attendance reporting for areas of responsibility and works with other department's leadership in resolving issues and revenue cycle opportunities as they relate to Patient Business Services. Performs all other duties as assigned. Utilizes the Lean methodology in constantly improving processes within the business office. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Five (5) years experience in hospital business office management position is required. College Degree in Business or Health Care Administration is preferred. Experience with third party payors, accounts receivable management, 837 electronic billing and 835 electronic posting systems, Medicare and Texas Medicaid billing/follow up experience, is preferred. Leadership skills and a strong computer systems orientation is required. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION Must be certified by HFMA or AAHAM as a Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR), or Certified Revenue Cycle Specialist –Institutional (CRCS-I) within one year of hire in this position.
