Patient Care Technician

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of an RN, assists in providing patient care.# Performs selected cross-trained skills, treatments and procedures specific to department for patients, including EKG and /or monitoring.# Updates RN with timely information regarding status of patient in compliance with Patient Services Department policy and other regulatory agency requirements.# Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental and divisional nursing philosophy and objectives, as well as, Health System initiatives.

EDUCATION/TRAINING: Must provide copy of diploma/degree for highest level of education obtained. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Certification as a Nursing Assistant#or completion of fundamentals of nursing course and be registered on the Illinois Department of Health Registry or a nurse who has completed RN or LPN Training in another country and completion of EKG.# Bi-Annual CPR designation by recommended renewal date.# ########## Heart Hospital incumbents must complete BDI course with in six months of hire.

EXPERIENCE

/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Successful completion of annual clinical, age and job specific competencies and skill verification tools required.# Good interpersonal, organizational and critical decision-making skills required.
