Job Description:

The PCT/CNA Instructor will provide academic and administration support at our Boston, MA site. This position includes teaching students according to the curriculum designed to build knowledge and skills aimed to complete the HHA and CNA program. The candidate must possess the ability to work with students from different socioeconomic and educational backgrounds. In addition to teaching, this position includes administration component too as of coordinating students outreach and recruitment, orientation sessions, collecting student's documentation, clinical and job placement.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Teach the academic, didactic, laboratory skills within the CNA program.

  • Collaborates with other CNA faculty to create and maintain up-to date course syllabi.

  • Preparation of lecture and presentations, quizzes and classroom assignments, preparation selection and submission of testing materials and other processes and procedures serves as instructor of C.N.A and other courses as assigned

  • Provides didactic instruction as part of the full time workload, as well as lab and/or clinical instruction.

  • Maintain accurate records on all students, including but not limited to attendance records, schedules, course documentation and compliance requirements.

  • Maintains a positive relationship with all potential clinical sites, funding sources and accrediting agencies.

  • Coordinates program curriculum, revising as needed, the syllabi, course content and course schedules.

  • Follow the curriculum aimed at assisting students complete the HHA (Home Health Aide) with an ultimate goal to pass the CNA licensing exam.

  • Assist with marketing materials and coordinates promotion in cooperation with the Office of Workforce Development.

  • Coordinate CNA application process and maintain regular communication with DPH.

  • Presents information sessions and advises prospective students.

  • Meets and advises matriculated students on regular basis.

  • Implements and maintains contracts for clinical experiences and job placement.

  • Responds to community needs for programs and adaptations of the program.

  • Coordinates communication and meetings with Admission and Registrar office.

  • Evaluate and document students' progress through testing, observation, and assessment of skills attained.

  • Provide regulatory oversight and compliance in accordance with DPH/ Nursing Aide Training Program

  • An instructor applicant shall also attend online training approved by the College to learn the methodology of teaching the course online.

  • Ability to perform physical work with patients and students in a clinical setting

  • Ability to lift at least 20 lbs.

  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the AVP of Workforce Development.

Requirements:

Educational Criteria:

  • BSN required with current Massachusetts Nursing License.

  • CNA experience, and long-/or long term care experience.

  • Teaching experience with multi-cultural and learning disabled students in either classroom or clinical setting.

  • Minimum of one-year experience in lesson planning, lesson delivery, student evaluation and remediation in a position such as in-service coordinator or staff educator in a healthcare setting; or,

  • Completion of a minimum of 24 Board of Registration in Nursing approved continuing education hours in curriculum development, teaching adult learners and student evaluation, or

Clinical Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two years full time employment in nursing or its equivalent within the past five years, and evidence of clinical competence in area of clinical instruction.

  • Qualified applicants must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodations.

  • Ability to work independently and in teams.

  • Current CPR and immunizations.

Additional Requirements:

Various teaching hours based on course schedule.

TRAVEL: This position may require teaching at Quincy Campus, Plymouth Campus, and/or Boston site.

Work Year: Fiscal Year.
