Performs a variety of patient care and administrative support functions under the supervision of a Medical Center Registered Nurse (RN) in an inpatient or outpatient setting.

  • Assists patients with personal care as needed for optimal recovery during hospitalization.

  • Performs basic nursing skills as delegated by an RN and in accordance with policy and procedure to promote patient health and wellness.

  • Provides for a safe environment and safe delivery of care.

  • Performs administrative support functions.

  • Maintains necessary skills and competencies.

  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Position Compensation Range: $12.86 - $19.93 Hourly

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent

Experience: No experience required

Licensure: American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS Certification required. Certified to practice as a Nurse Assistant in the Commonwealth of Virginia or currently enrolled student nurse who has successfully completed the Medical/Surgical Clinical Experience and Didactic required. Valid Virginia Driver's License (VADL) may be required. Must meet one of the following four (4) criteria (required):

  • (1) Successful completion of the UVa PCT Education Program.
  • (2) EMT-B or above certification with 3 years EMT experience. Candidate must successfully complete a written exam and must successfully demonstrate clinical skills during 6 month probationary period.
  • (3) Documented proof of at least 1 year of recent (within past 2 years) experience in a similar PCT role from an outside institution. Candidate must successfully complete a written exam and must successfully demonstrate clinical skills during 6 month probationary period.
  • (4) Currently enrolled student nurses who have successfully completed the Medical/Surgical Clinical Experience and Didactic are exempt from the Certified Nurse Assistant requirement.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job requires frequently bending/stooping and driving (Home Health Aide only). Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 50lbs and > 100lbs (Home Health Aide only). May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.

As part of our professional team of clinicians, you will be responsible for ensuring the comfort and safety of the patients in the dialysis center. What you can expect: * 1:1 Patient Care. Spending the majority of your day in direct one-on-one patient care to provide safe, comfortable and hygienic dialysis treatment. Our PCTs care for up to 4 patients at a time. * Building long-term relationships with your patients who are suffering from end stage renal disease and are receiving treatment on average 3 times/week. * Team. Cross functional team of clinicians including technicians, nurses, dietitians, social workers and leadership. PCTs work under the supervision of a RN. * Technician Duties. To monitor patients before, during and after dialysis treatment including measuring and recording stats, patient observations, and hemodialysis machine setup. Please note you will have exposure to blood and needles. * Schedule. Shifts can begin as early as 4:45 am. Typically working 12 hour shifts, 3 days/week. Clinics are closed on Sundays, and may be open on some holidays.
