The Patient Care Technician will be responsible for:

  • Performing some or all of basic patient care needs such as, bathing, feeding, vitals, activities of daily living, transportation of patients, discontinue IV, Accucheck, and safety observation

  • Exposure to blood and body fluids is possible

  • Any additional unit based duties

Your exceptional qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Ability to use a computer for documentation and work related purposes

  • Strong written, verbal and nonverbal interpersonal and professional communication skills are required.

  • Demonstrates accountability for own actions

  • Provides service in a willing and courteous manner

  • Demonstrates ability to prioritize, organize and multi-task.

  • Able to take direction well, but also be self-directed and motivated.

  • Requires a high degree of responsibility and responsiveness.

  • Deal effectively with patients, visitors, situations, and other Care Team members, while maintaining emotional control

Additional requirements

  • Must be able to lift

  • Must be available for one week of full-time training

  • Previous successful experience as a Patient Care Technician or similar role preferred

Job Summary: Under the direction of the Physician the Patient Care Coordinator supports the promotion of health and hygiene, disease prevention and management, treating ill patients, teaching and education. They will provide direct patient care, develop nursing care plans, administer medication, and communicate with patient's families. They will work hand in hand with all members of the healthcare team to achieve quality outcomes for the population of the practice site. Summary of Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities: * Triages patient phone calls, reviews patient test results, pharmacy calls, reviews patient medications and prioritizes work appropriately. * Provides patient education appropriate to patient diagnosis and specialty practice protocols consistent with the quality standards established by CPN. * Escort patients to exam rooms and checks vital signs as needed. Interviews patients to assess needs. * Assists physician with patient procedures such as allowed within the scope of nursing practice. Also administers EKGs, injections, immunizations, vision and hearing tests, and venipunctures. * Performs incision or procedure sites checks, when indicated. * For "nursing visits" records diagnoses and completes fee sheet by recording type of visit and procedures performed and supports charges with appropriate documentation. * Performs lab tests in accordance with needs of patient and as directed by the Physician/ and/or Laboratory Director. * Prepares specimens for physician viewing, operates and calibrates laboratory equipment. * Maintains laboratory documentation in accordance with CLIA standards and practice specific protocol. * Prepares specimens to be analyzed by an outside lab by packaging specimen appropriately, completing requisition form and contacting testing facility as necessary. * Tracks all labs sent offsite and informs patient of lab results according to office policy. Reconciles billings from offsite labs by comparing to the daily lab log and patient's chart when necessary.
