Position Summary:

As the Certified Nursing Assistant Instructor, you will lead and instruct the in-class course curriculum, and in-hospital, hands-on clinical for Nursing Assistant students. You will assess the learning needs of the students, and build their knowledge and skills needed for the licensing exam. You will provide ongoing support to ensure the highest standards of patient care are met. The instructor will hold four weeks in-class and two weeks in-hospital clinicals; for a total of six week program.

Essential Functions:

1.Teach the course curriculum as outlined per West Virginia Nurse Aide Licensure and Certification Program and meeting all OHFLAC requirements and standards.

2.Build knowledge and develop clinical skills aimed at assisting students to meet all requirements.

3.Evaluate and document students' progress through testing, observation, and assessment of skills.

4.Communicate effectively with students, and all those affiliated with the course, including staff at clinical training sites.

5.Provide in the classroom lectures and on-site, in-hospital hands-on skill training. Instructor must be present during clinical hours, and present when student is performing any skills.

6.Deliver instruction using active learning methods which accommodate different learning styles and needs.

7.Provide mentoring and coaching to nursing assistant students, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.

8.Maintain accurate documentation of testing results, clinical time and student progress.

9.The instructor is responsible for pairing students with mentors, during their orientation period once the student has passed licensure exam.



  1. Review and revise delivery methods, instructional materials, learning activities, and assessment tools as necessary.

  2. Serve as an advocate for education, promoting the importance of lifelong learning.

  3. Other duties as assigned.


Reports to: Chief Nursing Officer

Qualifications and Skills:

1.Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN) or higher (BSN preferred).

2.Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of West Virginia.

3.Minimum of 2 year's direct experience in long term patient care.

4.Ability to plan, select, prepare and implement appropriate active learning activities to meet all course competencies.

5.Strong organizational skills to effectively manage multiple students and projects.

6.Must possess the ability to work with students from different socioeconomic and educational backgrounds.

7.Commitment to staying updated with the latest best practices pertaining to nursing assisting and patient care.

8.Demonstrate expertise in adult education and curriculum development.

9.Leadership skills to facilitate group discussions and foster a collaborative learning environment.

Requirements:

1.AHA BLS Provider (to be obtained within 30 days of hire)

2.Educate-the-Educator certificate or professional teaching certificate from WV Department of Education. (to be obtained within 90 days of hire).
