We are looking for a Patient Care Tech III (PCT) to join our Post Partum team in Albuquerque, NM.

This full-time job is located at Lovelace Women's Hospital, the first and only hospital in New Mexico dedicated to women's health, offers a 53-bed advanced neonatal intensive care unit, a natural birthing center, an award-winning breast care center and the first robotic surgery program in the state recognized as a Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery by Surgical Review Corporation.

Responsibilities

Patient Care Tech III (PCT) Job Responsibilities:

  • Works under limited supervision of nursing and medical staff and with full proficiency to perform all duties of a PCT II, which include assisting patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and other ADLs.

  • Observes patients' progress to prepare and disseminate reports to Registered Nurse or other medical staff.

  • Obtains and records patients' vital signs and collects specimens for lab tests.

  • Provides basic patient transport and housekeeping duties.

  • Measures and records patients' intake and output and other measurements in accordance with unit routines, assist patients with range of motion, and draws blood.

  • Additionally, assists in providing treatments to patients, performs technical procedures such as feeding tube and catheter administration, suture/staple removal, splinting of extremities, and performs ECGs as ordered.

  • Coordinates daily activities for assigned unit to include general clerical and administrative support and participates in performance improvement activities to enhance and maintain personal and department qualifications and standards of performance.

Qualifications

Patient Care Tech III (PCT) Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diplima or GED.

  • Five (5) years' experience in acute or long-term care preferred

  • Must have BLS certification within 30 days of hire or transfer into position

  • Completion of approved CNA, PCT, or paramedic (EMT-P) certification which includes BLS, or may be senior nursing student with less than one semester to complete in nursing program; responsible for maintaining certificate

  • Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy preferred.

  • Competent to perform in at least two general areas of practice (cross trained and cross competent to cover more than one hospital service, role, or function)

  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
