Patient Care Technician I - 3S Cardiac Intermediate - Full Time - Days

Scope of Position:

Works under close supervision of a licensed nurse, and according to established policies, procedures and specific instructions, performs a variety of basic patient care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comforts of patients.

One to four weeks of on-the-job training at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital in order to become familiar with job responsibilities and duties, the work area, and policies and procedures.

Job Requirements

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Skills:

• The ability to perform routine patient care functions such as baths, taking temperatures, pulse and respiration and blood pressures.

• Must be able to follow routine written and/or verbal instructions.

• Must have interpersonal skills required to communicate effectively with patients of the following:

• Pediatric (8-12 years)

• Adolescent (13-17 years)

• Adult (18-64 years)

• Geriatric (64 years and above)

• Physicians, other hospital personnel as needed to promote quality patient care

Certification: Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification with Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
