About the Job:
The Patient Care Technicians (PCT), under supervision of the Nurse Manager and the nursing supervisor is responsible for the nursing care of the patients in the emergency department and is responsible for the direction of patient care. The PCT delivers care based on patient needs appropriate for the infant, pediatric, adolescent, adults, and geriatric patients. He/she demonstrates an interest in patient centered approach to total nursing care. Demonstrates cooperation, flexibility, and resourcefulness when dealing with patients, visitors, physicians, and hospital personnel. The PCT shall be responsible for assisting with planning; supervising and evaluating the nursing care of patients and for correlating the nursing process, the medical plan of care and policies.
Position requires some overtime and ability to coordinate several activities simultaneously.
Observe professional ethics in maintaining confidential information acquired concerning the personal, financial, medical, or employment status or patients of Tennova Healthcare
Must follow and enforce accepted safety practices for patients and hospital.
Participate in Performance improvement activities.
Utilize the nursing process to oversee and provide age specific patient care.
Maintain the development, implementation and revision of individual performance plans.
Facilitate open channels of communication with managers, peers, staff, and physicians.
Counsel, coach, disciplines, and evaluates nurses and staff.
Educates and adhere to patient bill of rights.
Assists with patient care through data collection.
Recognizes patient's needs and departmental needs.
Adapts care to include age and development.
Demonstrates well-defined organizational and time management skills.
Observes professional ethics in maintaining confidential information acquired regarding person, financial, medical or employment of patients, families, and employees of CCH
Applies concepts of customer relations and advocacy.
Follows and enforces accepted safety practices for patients and CCH by observing safety guidelines and safe work practices.
Requirements:
one year of experience in a hospital or medically related environment (preferred)
Medical Assistant with emergency department experience (preferred)
Corpsman, Certified Nursing Assistant with emergency department experience (preferred)
BLS certification required within 6 months of hire, if not current.
Excellent customer service skills are required.
