Patient Care Technician - 7N Gastro Med/Surg

Job Description Description Summary: Provides basic patient care under the direction of nursing staff and ensures patient safety and well-being.

The medical-surgical unit focuses on GI. Many of our patients have non-surgical abdominal pain, cirrhosis, hepatitis, non-surgical bowel obstructions, intractable nausea and vomiting, cholelithiasis, acute pancreatitis, diarrhea, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, diverticulitis, and upper and lower GI bleeds. We also receive patients from surgery of less complicated cases and medical-surgical overflow.

This is a fast-paced unit with lots to offer We are a unit that values teamwork above all. Responsibilities: •Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders. •Answering patient calls and helping patients with eating, bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility. •Feeding patients, measuring and recording their food and liquid intake. •Monitoring and documenting patients' temperature, blood pressure, and other vital signs and reporting changes to nurses or doctors. •Assisting nurses or doctors with medical procedures and dressing wounds.

Job Requirements: A. Education/Skills High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. B. Experience Experience in a hospital setting preferred.

C. Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications BLS from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
