Job Summary and Qualifications

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) delivers high quality, patient-centered care by performing a variety of delegated basic patient care services related to common nursing functions and activities of daily living. Under the supervision of the registered nurse (RN), the PCT assists the nursing staff in providing patient care in accordance with the PCT's skills/training and the needs of the Department, and consistently assists the patient care team with maintaining a clean, well-organized, and safe patient care environment. The PCT complies with all hospital policies/procedures and observes the State Board of Nursing rules for unlicensed personnel.

What you will do in this role:

1.Demonstrates effective communication skills.

2.Demonstrates ability to maintain patient records.

3.Demonstrates ability to transcribe physician orders.

4.Ensures patient stay is not delayed.

5.Orders unit supplies and nourishments.

6.Maintains neat and organized workspace.

7.Facilitates transportation of patients to other departments/facilities.

8.Handles complaints in a courteous and professional manner.

9.Protects patient confidentiality and privacy.

10. Acquires and maintains current knowledge in hospital/unit information.

11. Demonstrates an awareness of self-learning needs.

12. Performs other related duties incidental to the work herein described.

13. Presents neat appearance.

14. Responsible for delivery of specimens using Universal Precautions and picks-up medications from the Pharmacy.

15. Assists RN with care of patients.

16. Demonstrates safety principles related to patient care.

17. Provides a safe, clean and well-stocked unit.

What qualifications you will need:

• Recent computer experience; data entry and retrieval. Experience with medical terminology. Required

Licenses, Certifications, & Training:

• EMT Required

• Basic Cardiac Life Support Required

• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Required
