The Patient Care Tech (PCT) provides direct, basic patient care activities under the direction of a Registered Nurse or LPN, handling the care and cleaning of patient rooms/area and specific equipment, and the inventorying, ordering, and stocking of designated instruments, equipment, and supplies. PCTs assist with transportation of patients and supplies, and their day can vary from obtaining patient vital signs, point of care testing, phlebotomy, obtaining EKGs, feeding, bathing and toileting, to utilizing Combative Patient skills training, crisis management and intervention techniques.

PCTs are additionally responsible for documenting the patient care process and work as part of a team communicating with and assisting the nurse, doctors and physician#s assistants in support of CKHS# mission to ensure the highest quality of patient care in an economically sound and efficient manner. Requirements:
Eligible PCT candidates must have a high school diploma and current licensure as a Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, or Emergency Medical Technician in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. 2 years patient care experience preferred. Phlebotomy and/or experience in a hospital setting also preferred. # #

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Assembling patient charts, maintain the proper order of sheets, labeling each with barcode label and replenishing sheets as necessary. Prepares charts of patients scheduled for surgery and/or special studies Completed records and reports as assigned Communicates with other departments and/or family as necessary concerning patient status, transfer Transcribes physicians# orders, completing request forms, contacting physicians when consultations requested, ordering equipment, and documenting on the necessary chart forms and kardexes. Enters orders as appropriate through EOE and assists the providers with entering orders. Utilizes orders reconciliation in POE phase to clean up the orders screen Greets and directs visitors and patients Sorts and delivers mail to patients Maintains adequate supplies and inventory in conjunction with other personnel. Requirements:## High school diploma required. Successful completion of a unit clerk certificate program or successful completion of at least 2 years in an accredited school of professional nursing, or one year previous experience as a unit secretary in a hospital setting required.# Patient Care Secretary should be fully conversant in medical and health terminology.
