Description

In accordance with established policies, procedures, applicable laws and regulatory requirements, the Patient Care Technician, under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, performs basic nursing care, clerical duties, and patient care tasks as necessary to provide for the comfort and safety of patients.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma or GED

Certification- CNA in the State of Michigan

American Heart Association BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers

Basic computer keyboard experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office products

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

6 months previous health care experience associated with direct patient contact activities

Strong communication skills necessary to maintain open and honest communication and patient safety requirements

ED: One year experience in an emergency department within the past five years. Medical/Surgical: Graduate Nurses are eligible. Must become licensed within 90 Days of employment. OB/Labor-Delivery/Nursery: One year experience in an OB department within the past five years. Surgical Services: One year experience in the OR within the past five years. PACU: One year PACU, ED or SCU experience or two years of hospital based experience within the past five years. SCU: One year hospital based experience in the last five years. Must be licensed as a REGISTERED NURSE in the State of Michigan Current CPR Certification and Maintain Certification ACU: Current ACLS certification Assignment to Oncology must successfully complete Chemotherapy certification after 12 months experience administering chemotherapy and maintain certification thereafter ED: Current ACLS certification Must successfully complete PALS within 1 year of hire or transfer and maintain certification thereafter.
