Job Summary
UK HealthCare EmPATH (Emergency Psychiatric Assessment, Treatment, & Healing) Psychiatric Unit is a 12 bed open milieu providing specialized emergency/crisis care to behavioral health patients 18 years and older. This service will assist in decompressing the emergency departments and improving the quality and trauma-informed nature of crisis care at UK Healthcare.
Behavioral health needs may include mental illness and substance use disorders, with a goal of quickly stabilizing the crisis and returning patients back to community supports with reduction in hospital use. This is an evidence-based model and the first EmPATH unit in Kentucky.
The Patient Care Manager (PCM) assumes 24 hour accountability for planning, supervising and evaluating the care of patients and Nursing practice. The primary responsibilities are to provide for the safe, effective, and efficient care of the patient as well as to direct the business, technical and nursing support activities of the unit. This individual is responsible for the successful management of the UK HealthCare EmPATH Emergency Psychiatric Center, located within the Eastern State Hospital campus.
